Passion Flowers and Garden License Plates

Volume 22 Issue 9, September 2025

What's New in September?

Here we are; it’s hurricane season—for us anyway– again. September is usually our busy, rainy month. For now, the weather is a bit warm, but very beautiful.

It’s been a busy month. I have been working on building my hummingbird garden to complement my butterfly garden, but I keep running into trouble with the hummingbird plants. I’ve had some trouble with destructive caterpillars—not my butterflies, but I don't’ know who the culprit is that’s eating and killing my porterweed. I am now fighting some leaf mold on my firestick, so it’s a never ending battle to keep get these flowers ready for the migration season.

In the meantime, I am expanding my butterfly garden to include Gulf fritillary  and Zebra host plants. The passion flower vine. I bought one with a cat on it already, and as soon as I put it out in the yard, the butterflies found it and started laying eggs on it. I am not sure how I will transplant it as it needs a big trellis, but it’s awesome! Full of purple flowers and sweet smells. I don’t have enough of a plant to support a lot of butterflies, but it’s fun to watch them flitting about. Lots of different butterflies this year, and I am working on getting more host plants in the yard. In the meantime, I have been making garden lover’s gifts. Check them out.

Here are some beautiful passion flowers to enjoy.

What’s New

Notecards: For those of you who only need a little note card to stick in a gift or just a quickie note, I created a few 3x3s for you. I have been using them in my packages when I send them out.

Socks: I started creating socks awhile back, but got the urge to do some seamless patterns in Photoshop, which translate very well to socks. Back to school and garden are my current focus, but I have several writer's socks ready to create, as well. I ordered my own socks and they are so cool. I will do a video at some point.

Shoes: To go with my socks, there are matching shoes. I am playing around with two types of shoes: tennis shoes and clogs. Both have been fun to create.

Until next month,

Julie

Things to Look Forward To:

New Products:

Aprons: So far, only two aprons have made it into my store. A personalized baking apron and a nice/naughty Christmas apron. I will be getting my garden aprons out soon. I have no concept of time since I garden all year round here.

Wall Art: I have moved a lot of print in house, which has freed me up to offer 8x10 prints of my car art, my travel art, and some fun graphic arts. I can do this at a reasonable price, which is why I went this direction. I don't have many prints moved over yet, but I am working on it.

Bookmarks: I have some test product bookmarks that I am in love with, so you'll see them soon. I keep saying this, but I haven't gotten that far yet. I will have them! I promise!
